Some time had passed since the last recording and I'd been busy with other things. Still, the sound synthesis code had evolved and the mapping included new timbral possibilities. I decided to record one last piece for the first sound diary, based on an idea that started out all the way back in January.

The main theoretical idea was to build a massive non-repeating chord from stacking certain intervals. Stacking major and minor thirds one after the other generates beautiful, but quite familiar harmonies. I was after something a bit more unique, something that would not be possible in 12tet.

One such chord bult on thirds cought my interest, the one generated by stacking M3, m3, M3, M3 over and over, or in 53 edo, |: 17, 14, 17, 17 :|. This is essentially major maj7 chords stacked on top of each other, the next one being a major third from the last note of the chord, the major 7th.

I feel like this pitch material has much more to give. Septimal minor 7 chords are given by taking only every other pitch. Extending the material to include pitches between the thirds would enable such interesting melodic pathways.
